Teller for the Day
Want to earn some extra cash and learn about the credit union business at the same time? Come to STAR Credit Union to sign up to be a "Teller for the Day". As a teller, you will work with Shannon for 30 minutes and earn $1.00 into you account. You will learn things such as: good member service, how to complete a transaction, how to count money using the coin sorter, and basic business functions such as copying, faxing, and sorting mail.
Marketing Committee
STAR Credit Union is designed around you, the members. We want you to be involved in marketing the credit union. Marketing is a fancy word for advertising or for getting the word out. The Marketing Committee is open to any STAR member who wants to be more involved in the marketing aspect of the credit union.
Past Marketing Committee members were involved in creating the STAR logo and the credit union goals. Committee members also help design marketing materials, such as posters, flyers, and pamphlets about the credit union. They design savings campaigns and run membership drives. Marketing Committee members have been the key to STAR's success--we have grown to over 450 members! For more information about the committee, please see Shannon in the STAR office.

The Stock Market Club
The Stock Market Club was created in September, 2006 by STAR Credit Union. STAR wanted to design a program for teens, as there was a desire to see more of the age group involved in the credit union and in saving money for their future. Because they will be out on their own soon, it is essential to stress the importance of starting to save at a young age for one’s future and to have a good, strong financial education background. The club helps give students a jump start at saving and investing through a hands-on learning experience.
The Stock Market Club is taught by UW/MATC professor Michael Johnson and is facilitated by Sue Taylor of the Financial Educator's Network and Shannon Griswold of STAR Credit Union. The Stock Market Club meets once a week for twelve weeks. Upon completion of the course, club members receive $50 into their STAR Credit Union accounts which helps "invest" in their futures. To find out more about the Stock Market Club, see Shannon in the STAR office.
